Recent Work: Michael Bachtadze

Here is a project I recently completed for the German Opera Singer Michael Bachtadze. The site is responsive, looks great on any device and is built on WordPress from the ground-up. I use my boilerplate theme which is based heavily on Viewport Industries’ Starkers and the help of a few key plugins: Contact Form 7, TablePress and a NextGen Photo Gallery.

I also used the Post Types Order plugin to easily sort posts with a user-friendly drag and drop solution, which always seems to come in handy.

From the very start I knew I would need good language support for typography as opera repertoire spans many languages, not to mention some of the copy on the site was going to be auf Deutch. I decided on Erik Spiekermann’s FF Meta served up via Typekit, which seemed very fitting for this German Baritone. The type family has excellent readability, enough weights to suit my needs, and even at smaller sizes it looks beautiful on screen.

I even customized the login screen and other parts of the admin for a seamless branded experience.

I’d like to create a niche for building sites for opera singers, having the exclusivity of living with Kathryn Lewek my opera loving and overall knowledge seems to grow every day. Next I’ll be creating a site for Tenor Shawn Mathey. If you happen to be an opera singer, conductor, or classical musician and you’re looking for a new or refreshed website, feel free to contact me for a quote today.
